Track, Lesson Updates, Etc..

Published by ruthie at 7:29 pm under our day

Our track team had a meet. The team did GREAT. Cats team won the 7th Grade Girls one mile race (and our girls were only 6th and 5th grade!). We were very excited the team did so well. Cat had a PR (personal record) time!

here are some photos from the meet:

part of our team is in this picture warming up… the pink and yellow shirts:)

The last few weeks the boys have been “into” rocks. :)below Joseph is throwing a rock on the concrete to break it.

Here is a review from the past few days:

History: We learned about the Wars of the Roses, and the history of Joan of Ark. Today we read about Spain and the story of Isabella and Ferdinand.

Science: We are continuing our study of Insects. The kids have really enjoyed it! Learning the different types of metamorphosis (complete and incomplete), dragonflies, insects and camouflage, insects and mimics, bombardier beetle and others. We also learned about ants, social aspects, jobs that ants perform, how they communicate, farm, “ranch”, etc. Today we learned about Bees and how they live together, work together, etc.

Bible: We have begun the official start of studying the Book of John for this years Bible Bowl competition. The boys asked to stay up late last night to finish a Bible Bowl puzzle they were working on :)

We started our Spelling again. The kids got new notebooks and we have picked up where we left off. I love this program for our kids. (Sequential Spelling)

Joseph began reading “King Solomon’s Mines” and is really enjoying it. Nate is still plugging away at the Magic Tree House series, (#38).

Our coop also started last week. The boys are in the Elementary Coop where they will have Science, Music, Spanish, Sign Language, Chapel, PE, Art,  Art History and various field trips. Cat is in the Jr High Coop, course of study includes: Creative Writing, Cultural Geography, Bible, Art, Spanish, PE and various educational field trips.

I have also decided that once a week I will chose a new place to go and “do school”. Last week we did Science by the tire swing at the park! Then the kids played, searched for insects, and played with the ducks. :) It was great fun and a beautiful day!

super fun! Congrats to Cat! So does a rolly polly morph into anything? We have some rocks your boys would like, in fact, they would love the “mine” that I run to on long runs.
