Here we are all dressed up and ready to get our picture made for the directory :) Hopefully this years will turn out better than last times :) LOL :)

OK.. Spring cleaning is a foot in the blessed discovery household :) With summer being.. well.. not really a summer for us.. as i worked so  much.. our house got WAY out of control :) Fall cleaning is nice too! I am happy to announce that after 4 days of cleaning the boys room is organized and re-arranged :)

Through the cleaning i found some artwork that Jo did last year at coop.  (see below)

The above is Jo’s version of a page from The Book of Kells, an early medieval Bible Manuscript. Click here to see the page we copied in class.

This is JO’s stain glass using tissue paper and black tempera. (We studied Cathedrals and the Rose Window)

We had a great trip to the library last week.. and i thought it would be fun to post a picture of what we came home with. :)

Last week in coop I taught the kids how to use a horizon line, vanishing point and ruler to draw in perspective. The next day i found the boys sitting at the coffee table talking and drawing together: (not bad for a 9 and 7 year old!) :)

One day a few weeks ago I found Nate coloring (above).. I loved it. It looks so joyful to me :)

Again while cleaning I found this wrinkled piece of paper. It belonged to Jo. I asked what it was about and he said it was his “self portrait”.  I must say i LOVE the bright eyes and big smile! And its him to a “t”.

The boys were excited to replace books with rocks! The top shelf is Jo’s rock collection, the bottom is Nate’s. It is amazing to me they can pick up a rock when they are all mixed together and say “uh.. no.. thats Jo’s. or .. hey.. thats Nate’s” They remember where they found it and when. They both have some granite, flint and limestone for sure.. a few are fossils, and we have 10 books from the library to try and figure out what the rest are.  (We are not “studying” Geology for a course or anything, this is just their fun past time.. yet another example that kids learn ALLLLLL the time :)

“Can we do our math outside?” …  … “OH sure!” (I didnt realize how cute they looked until about 20 mins later when it was so quiet i needed to go check.. and HAD to grab my camera :)

be sure and check out the page of poems.. the boys started making up poems this morning.. and I decided to start a poem page :) click here. or see our Poem page on the side bar
