Loving Learning! :)

We have been LOVING our learning these last few weeks! Above the kids are pouring over the world map. Nothing like a bit of History to make Geography enjoyable! Here they are trying to decide which route would have been the one that Captain Cook would have taken when he went from London to Tahiti.

We are also experiencing lots of growing around here! Cat has shot up and is official taller than me! Which I LOVE by the way! It won’t be long now and I will be the shortest in the family!

It snowed this morning and Nate was the first one out in it ! It didnt last last long but doesnt take much snow for a 8 year old to get excited!

I am teaching Cat how to play the Clarinet! I played in Highschool and College (was a music major for a while) but I do need some refresher courses to jog my memory :) Our Homeschool Group has a Band I am hoping to see if she can participate in it next year :)   (OH and her hair came out sooo cute when we curled it!)

Coop is going great! Here Nate is in my Art Class painting a landscape after we studied Thomas Cole.

I am LOVING Apologia 7th Grade General Science. I did the first chapter with the boys only but Cat has decided to join us in our study and not finish the Bob Jones Science she started the year with. She did enjoy Bob Jones but we didnt make the time to do the experiments that went along with her curr. Doing Science together just works better for us :) Another deciding factor was that I was able to get Apologia Biology and Physical Science from my sister in law for a really really good price! So I have a few years of Science taken care of !!! ;)

  • In History we learned many things such as the American Constitution, Captain Cook, and the beginnings of Australia as a Prison Colony.
  • In Science we are are learning about the Scientific Method, about various scientists in history and how they came up with ideas and made breakthroughs. Today’s lesson was GREAT and explained how one could use the Scientific Method to help explain many things  in our world. It  went on to explain how one could use the Method to provide evidence that the Bible is the Word of God through the use of the many Prophecies and how they came true! The kids LOVED it! ( I read for over an hour!)
  • Math, Handwriting, Cats writing class, and reading are all taking place but I wont go on and on about those :)

I am looking forward to finding another good read aloud for the Winter :) (any suggestions?) We also have the Science and History Fair coming up in February! Track is going GREAT! The kids are all improving and LOVING it! Nate had a new PR on his last mile test of 7 mins 8 seconds! Cat has been nursing a bit of a thigh “injury” but has healed and is running stronger everyday! And Jo… well has consistently been to every practice Coach has… even going twice in one day on Mondays and Fridays! woowhoo!

I will try and post more often here… just need to make the time! :)
